  • The most important first step for a successful move to Noah as a Service is to first upgrade all of your computers to Noah 4.10.  Noah 4.10 includes a new networking infrastructure for more stable and robust network communication over internet connections. You can download Noah 4.10 from the HIMSA website.

  • Another important requirement is a good internet connection. You will access your Noah Server over the internet. This will require a stable and reliable internet connection. If you are concerned or curious about your internet speed, see the speed checking tool below.
    Internet Connection Requirements
You will need an internet connection when using Noah System if you wish to be connected to the hosted Database.  At minimum, you will need a connection speed of at least:
    • 2 Mpbs download
    • 2 Mpbs upload

If you are uncertain of your speed, please check at http://himsa.speedtestcustom.com.  You should check at each office and as a test, while connected outside of the office (e.g. connecting via a mobile hot spot).  Your speed connection tests should also be run during normal business hours to accurately measure your internet speed while other employees are making use of the internet connection.

  • Next, get an accurate picture of your current Noah setup:

    1. How many computers with Noah?
    2. What version of Noah is on the machines?
    3. Are you combining databases from standalone machines or multiple offices?
    4. How many unique users will be accessing Noah?
      1. Do they have user accounts?
      2. Have passwords been enabled in Noah?
      3. Do the users know their passwords?
      4. Are they using complex passwords?

  • Next, think about your Noah user accounts and passwords

    • For Phase One of the Noah as a Service testing HIMSA will be providing you with test Noah User Accounts and Passwords.
    • For Phase Two, your patient database will be moved to your remote Noah Server hosted by HIMSA and HIMSA requires that login security is enabled and 'Enforce strong user passwords' is selected.

Noah User Accounts and Passwords
Noah 4 does provide all the necessary security precautions (e.g. secure networking) but your company must also share in some responsibility with securing your data, namely by ensuring that:
  • strong passwords are used - the current default is set to enforce this
  • passwords are changed routinely - the current default is to require passwords to be changed every 30 days.
  • Each employee for your business using Noah has their own Noah user account setup with the appropriate access level.  Click here for more information

  • HIMSA requires that login security is enabled and 'Enforce strong user passwords' is selected. You will find these settings in the Noah Console at Security Administration, Login.

Once you have reviewed your current Noah configuration and updated all computers to Noah 4.10, the next step is to create an account on the Noah as a Service support portal.
