Managing User Levels and Permissions
Manage Users and Manage Permissions are accessed from the Noah ES Portal.
Under Manage Users you can set the User Type or Authorization level. Noah ES expands and improves on the concept of User Levels from Noah System. In addition to more User Types, the number of tasks that users can perform is expanded.
Business Decision Maker (BDM) - This is the account that is created at Noah ES sign up. The BDM is the owner of hearing care business or represents the owner. The BDM is the most powerful account in Noah ES, a full administrator with access to all ES functions. The BDM will be able to make important financial and business decisions for the hearing care business, for example, agreeing to contracts. It is possible to raise other users to BDM. There must be at least one BDM user per Noah ES account.
Technical Administrator – The Technical Administrator has rights for all Noah ES functions and features, but cannot agree to legal contracts.
Administrative Support (Free) - This account is able to perform administrative functions but will not work with the Noah ES client and not work with any Noah patient or session features. This account is not a chargeable account for the Noah ES subscription. Examples of Administrative Support user tasks include managing Noah ES users or paying invoices.
Level 1 - The default setting for the Level 1 user is to have access to Patient and Session features. This permission provides the user with the ability to add and view patients, view actions and patient history, and create new actions. Other features like importing, exporting, deleting, or merging patients, are disabled by default.
Level 2 - This is the default user level of any new account created in Noah ES, besides the original BDM account. The Level 2 user can access patient and session features, but all other features are disabled by default. The BDM, Technical Administration or Administrative Support accounts have permission to elevate the new Level 2 account.
Under Manage Permissions you can set permitted or denied for host of activities for each User Type. The expanded activity list makes it possible to tailor data access for your employees and determine who can perform important business functions. Consider if the default settings are appropriate for your business and if not, make the appropriate permission changes.
Great example of a new permission is ‘Self-Service Password Management’. By default, this permission is enabled for the BDM or the Technical Administration, but it can be enabled to allow any user level to request a password reset.
The following is the list of controllable features for each user level. Note that the settings for the Level 1 and Level 2 users are the same by default. This provides flexibility for the business to define their own Level 1 and Level 2. Disabled and Enabled indicate hard coded features and cannot be changed. ‘Disabled by default’ and ‘Enabled by default’ indicate features that can be changed.
See the Noah ES Portal to view or change permissions.
